| Description | The concept of "aesthetic intelligence" as a specific disposition corresponds both to Baumgarten's definitions of aesthetics "theoria liberalium artium, gnoseologia inferior, ars pulchre cogitandi, ars analogi rationis, est scientia cognitionis sensitivae" (§ 85), as well as to current research on "visual intelligence" ( D.D.Hoffman et al.), "cognitive metaphors" and "creative analogies" (D.Hoffstadter). This disposition is not innate, but acquired through long-term learning, practice, and participation in patterns of understanding within a culture and society. Aesthetic intelligence far exceeds the common concept of "soft-skills", which, however, assume it to a certain extent (for example, visualization of scientific information, extrapolation, structural transfer). In addition to contemporary challenges and synchronous investigations, the meeting also has a diachronically historical part - an exploration of artistic expression, style and modes of perception of the European artistic tradition. |
