Description The author of the present article deals – on the background of the work of Mikuláš Bakoš – with the context of Russian formalism and the avantgarde associated with the attempts at the synthesis of literary artefact and literary criticism and tries to demonstrate its bonds with various 20th-century methodological tendencies and significant representatives of the world literary scholarship (like René Wellek) reflected in immanent methods, formism, formalism, structuralism, neostructuralism and poststructuralist currents. The inspirative kernel of Russian formalism consists not only in the connection of science, performance, and medialization, but mainly of scholarly research and artistic creation.
