Description Literature data concerning the occurrence of mayflies in the Jeseníky Mts. (within limits of the present Landscape Protected Area) published between 1859-1999 are summarized and reviewed with respect to the present status of knowledge. In addition, new data from 44 localities, 20 of them situated at hypocrenal and epirhithral zones of streams predominantly in the Velká Kotlina Cirque Nature Reserve, are presented. Of the extant 94 species known from the Czech Republic, 38 species are now recorded from this area, Ecdyonurus subalpinus Klapálek, 1904 being new to the fauna of the Jeseníky Mts., and E. picteti (Meyer-Dür, 1864) and E. parahelveticus Hefti, Tomka et Zurverra, 1986 to fauna of the Czech Republic. Besides the analysis of abundance and vertical distribution, the Jeseníky Mts. mayfly fauna is discussed from the biogeographical point of view.
