Description Although more than five years have passed since world leaders met on 25 September 2015 to define a set of global goals that have since become part of a new sustainable development agenda of the United Nations Development Programme (2015), it is worth highlighting the importance of this event. The agenda remains relevant to this day, given that each of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which make up the so-called 2030 Agenda, represent major challenges for all of us. In other words, these specific targets focus on areas where there are traditionally serious problems that need to be addressed urgently. In this sense, these global goals seek to "eradicate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure (Ibid.) This opens up an ideal space where academia and universities can fulfill their commitments related to their so-called third role. The universities that are part of the UNIDA consortium collaborate on a number of projects in order to meet the demanding challenges of today's complex world.
