| Description | The paper deals with four operas performed in the early years of Maria Theresa's reign, which - for the first time in the heart of the Habsburg monarchy - were composed to original German libretti. The newly identified librettos of these operas are an essential source of knowledge. The connection with the War of the Austrian Succession is also considered. |
