Description In December 2019, a workshop was held in the AdMaS FCE BUT building in Brno, the aim of which was to summarize the current state of knowledge in the field of spatial syntax analysis. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transport and other interested parties from the Railway Administration, the Research Institute of Geodesy, Topography and Cartography in Zdiby, the Crisis Management Department of the South Moravian Regional Office, and the Prevention Department of the Directorate General of the HZS. The workshop proceedings were divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. In the first part, after the presentation of the project, representatives of Masaryk University spoke and described selected aspects of human behavior during evacuation and then summarized the current state of knowledge in the field of spatial syntax and the possibilities of its use in virtual reality. Subsequently, members of the BUT project team presented the concept of building information modeling (BIM) and the principles of agent modeling for building evacuation. In the afternoon block, the participants of the workshop had the opportunity to practically get acquainted with virtual reality technology and become part of the simulation of the evacuation of the main railway station in Prague. They then had the opportunity to actively demonstrate their orientation skills in an unknown building in VR and choose an escape route.
