| Description | The investigation of the relationship between the artistic task and the resulting work of art, which appears in contemporary art history especially since the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, has a much longer history, especially in connection with the work of Jacob Burckhardt at the end of the 19th century. Ján Bakoš analyzed it years ago in his historiographical study. The current workshop of doctoral students in Brno sets itself the task of thinking through three important methodological traditions in the history of art: (a) The artistic task and Jacob Burckhardt; (b) Assignment, Intention and Michael Baxandall; (c) Functions and Gottfried Semper. It is these theoretical approaches that can show us a certain way, thanks to which we could achieve clarification of the concretely created artistic form and at the same time we would understand the artistic task that the creator solved "just like this - and not otherwise". |
