Description Even though folk buildings were built by their nature as functional objects that were supposed to serve residential or economic purposes, with the rise in the standard of living of subjects after Maria's reforms Theresa and Joseph II. we encounter forms that represented the social status of the owner and included decorative elements of various characters. They were based on the contemporary style of the architectural canon and are found on timber and brick buildings, especially in space of the shield. Only manifestations having a magical-protective character and originally can be considered older they did not fulfill an aesthetic function. With the development of construction and construction legislation, they penetrate from the second half In the 19th century, urban construction companies moved to the countryside, but in the end they had to adapt to the tastes of village customers, especially in terms of decorative elements. Let's go to the village they discover buildings built in the spirit of various historicisms, from Art Nouveau to modernism of the first half 20th century. As a result of the uneven development of the Czech lands, we can still meet in the field with various documents of said development, including objects based on older local ones building traditions. The aim of the conference is to point out these different stylistic layers of the village house and indicate their historical development with a focus on the decorative side and epigraphy.
