| Description | The contribution will focus directly on the Besední dům building. On the basis of archival documents, I will first show who was actually behind the whole idea and what was its background, without leaving aside the refutation of some traditional myths. The second part will be an analysis of the architect Theophilus Hansen's plans, the various phases and refinements of the project up to the final form, including the decorative elements - for example, the sculptures on the attic of the building. In the last part, I will then briefly look at the function of the building and its varied daily operations, which were made possible by Hansen's fine plan. |
