Description Village buildings, as functional objects that served residential and economic purposes, carry decorative elements to a greater extent since the 18th century, when the economic situation of subjects improved in connection with the reforms of Maria Theresa and Joseph II. They were concentrated in the area of the shield (the turning point). In the case of wooden buildings, inscription data can be found on the cover plates, referred to as the "christening letters" of the cottages. For brick gables, these data are incorporated into the stucco decoration. In the interiors, the inscription dates are located on the through-beam (grate), where, in addition to the solar motif, we also find the date. The date can also appear on the archways at the entrance gates of farmhouses. The decoration of the village house developed in the 19th century. In addition to plastic (stucco) decoration, which reached its peak in southern Bohemia, wall painting decor is characteristic of a folk house in southern Moravia.
