Description The talk addressed the kinds of challenges the scholars face in dealing with Czech broadside ballads (e.g. new directions in research, cataloguing and ways of making Czech broadside ballads more accessible). The talk provided an overview of the phenomenon, history, and materiality of Czech broadside ballads. The emphasis has been also be put on literary and social context (including topics, distribution, authorship and reception). Czech broadside ballads have been be revealed to be a local cultural phenomenon. However, they also exhibit many features common to Central-European and Western-European printed ballads.
