Description . In vascular surgery, we most often encounter asymmetric oedema of the lower limbs (LL) in chronic venous insufficiency. Patients suffer from pain, a feeling of heavy legs, cramps, varicose veins appear. In untreated patients there may develop lower leg ulcers. Other causes of LL vascular oedema include thrombosis and post-thrombotic syndrome. It is possible to surgically intervene on both superficial and deep venous systems. We can treat the venous hypertension and varicosities on the surface system. We perform operations classically or minimally invasively. We restore the patency of the veins on the deep system. Interventions here can be endovenous (continuous local thrombolysis or mechanical thrombectomy) or surgical (open thrombectomy). LL oedema is a symptom, and if its underlying cause is not treated, it may worsen, causing pain or ulceration. Untreated, it significantly reduces the quality of life. Therefore, multidisciplinary attention is paid to the diagnosis of LL oedem
