Description Our paper focuses on the prefaces in Czech humanist postilography from 1592 to 1620 by Martin Filadelf Zámrský, Jakub Wujek of Wegroviec, Blažej Borovský of Borovany, Vojtěch Šebestián Scipion-Berlička, Jan Kapita (2nd ed.), Jiří Dikast, Václav Slovacius and Jakub Petroželín Kunštátský. We have chosen two approaches for the elaboration. The first approach, primarily oriented towards the formalized aspect of text construction, affected the arrangement of texts using recommendations from preaching theory and described the differences between texts introduced by dedication and texts addressing the reader. The second approach, using literary theoretical premises, analyzed the way the person of the "dedicatee" is formed. The text includes a brief characterization of the elaborated prefaces and dedications
