Description The following paper presents and discusses considerations on the ongoing digital transformation of German as a foreign and second language. It not merely calls for this transformation to be allowed to happen but wants to consciously shape it from a post-digital perspective. Next to theoretical reflections, the basis for this is location-specific practical experience made with digital transformation at universities in four different countries. A seminar entitled ‘DaF_Z digital: Open-Source-Didaktik’ (German as a Foreign and Second Language: Open-Source Didactics), which we jointly conducted at the Technical University of Dresden, offered space for the construction of individual ‘building blocks for a utopia’, which in turn sharpened our focus of attention as well as our theoretical concepts. In this respect, this article is both a position paper and a project description.
