| Description | Christian churches can also be found in surprising places, such as in the middle of Isfahan, Iran, where the magnificent Armenian Church of the Holy Saviour, commonly called "Vank", has stood since the 17th century. The temple is a beautiful example of the fusion of Islamic and Christian building traditions, which, however, has a rather long tradition in the South Caucasus region. How did Persian stalactite vaults appear in medieval Armenian churches? What, on the other hand, did Armenian stonemasons quite excel at throughout history? What is the role of art and architecture in a world of shifting borders, and where do the borders of the Late Antique world actually lie?
