Description What do we imagine when we talk about the Middle Ages? We all have our own answer to this question, but thanks to the famous monastery of Mont Saint Michele, we know exactly what the French architect and restorer Viollet-le-Duc meant by the Middle Ages. His projects created a true myth of the Middle Ages. A myth so powerful and successful that even most people nowadays, when they hear the word French Middle Ages, think of his famous projects, be it the rebuilding of Carcassonne or the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. But does this romantic tale of the past correspond to reality, or is it a fraud? And how is the concept of the 19th century Middle Ages linked to contemporary right-wing politics? Find out in the new episode of the podcast The Middle Ages (or Else) Lasts with Jiří Macháček and Ivan Foletti! There is also a small spoiler about the next episode of the podcast at the end.
