Description This thematically unusual podcast episode takes you to Nazi Germany and the issues of racism in the 20th century. Historian Jiří Němec, Ivan Foletti and Jiří Macháček will discuss how Hitler's Third Reich propaganda exploited the legacy of the First Medieval Reich. The Third Reich used the humanities as a tool to promote its ideas. Archaeology, for example, was used to prove the deep Germanic roots of the German nation, and the Gothic style was considered "true German art" in the narrative of contemporary art history. Racial theories were undoubtedly a key element of Nazi ideology in the Third Reich. The question remains whether we can still encounter it today. And if so, how can it be avoided? Perhaps again with the help of the humanities?
