Description | In the talk, I distinguish several types of social constructionism and focus on a radical form according to which categories such as gender, sex, disease, disability, family, etc. are social constructs. I begin with the claims of some social scientists, philosphers and activists who maintain that the categories are defined unjustly in contemporary society and must be redifined. I show that, in this effort, constructivists cannot refer to moral categories such as justice because these must be understood as social constructs too if the above non-moral categories are. |
