Description Antiepileptic drugs (AED) with anticonvulsive properties represent suitable medication for epilepsy treatmnet. Apart the plasma/serum matrix, saliva is the other suitable source of clinical data on drug concentration and therapy compliance. Saliva based diagnostics could help improve personalized medicine and be the tool for long-term monitoring. In this study, the LC-MS method for AED determination was developed and underwent basic validation. The presented LC-MS method is suitable for quantification of selected drugs. The validation criteria were fulfilled for all analytes except for levetiracetam. Further studies will be focused of the quantification of AED drugs in patient samples and the correlation of the salivary to plasma concentrations.
