Description The purpose of this paper is to examine the changing perceptions on the 'Polytechnic Generation' in two different periods of the Modern Greek literary production. On the one hand, Greek authors connected the generation with the concepts of heroism, resistance and fear, as it is discernible in literary works of the 1970s and 1980s. However, in this paper I focus predominantly on contemporary Greek fiction. More specifically, contemporary Greek authors associate the participants to the "Polytechnio Uprising" with economic crime, greed, corruption, nepotism and the absence of moral barriers. Thus, on a first level, I discuss the differentiated perceptions of the Generation through five decades. Secondly, I attempt to discuss narratives in regard to a significant historical event in two different periods of Modern Greek literature . In this way, I aim to discuss how Greek writers, who deal with the economic crisis, are simultaneously re-approaching the Greek historical past.
