Description The objective of the book is to present, through several thematic chapters, the evolution of the study of High and Late Medieval pottery in the Czech lands. It aims to illustrate the entire technological process of production, outline the regional differentiation of pottery and the quality of its archaeological context, and characterize the morphological and typological transformations of vessels. The book further seeks to acquaint readers with all methodological, analytical, and synthetic approaches, as well as challenges associated with the processing and evaluation of pottery collections from medieval sites. Concurrently, the endeavour is to position pottery research within the contemporary theoretical discourse and, through selected examples, highlight potential future areas of study, topics for forthcoming research, and new interpretative contexts. Incorporated within the book are four practical excursions focused on pottery documentation (sketching, photography, three-dimensional rendering), pottery conservation-restoration techniques, petroarchaeology of pottery, and experimental research.
