Description The study analyses the different rewritings and transformations of the gaucho myth in contemporary Argentine literature, paying special attention to science fiction literature. Based on the reflections of Juan Carlos Rodríguez, it seeks to answer the question of how the gaucho myth is configured in contemporary argentine fiction and in particular in two novels: ?Suenan los gauchoides con nandúes eléctricos? by Michel Nieva and El viento de la pampa los vio by Juan Pisano, which, unlike other rewritings that question the integration of new subjects in the gaucho as an identity symbol of the Argentine nation, by the use and the transformation of the myth they raise throbbing questions about the current global situation marked by the exploitation of the individual and the ecological crisis.
