Description Did you know that the Buryats are Buddhists and partly shamanists? And do you have any idea what the Santal Buddha looks like? These and other interesting questions were answered by Luboš Bělka from the Institute of Religious Studies of the Faculty of Arts of MU. At the lecture from the travel series he recalled his trip to Siberia to Lake Baikal in Buryatia. Studying the revival of religion was an opportunity for Luboš Bělka to encounter a unique phenomenon: in the era of Stalinist repression in the 1930s, there was a total destruction of religious life here, as well as in nearby Mongolia. The first revival of Tibetan Buddhism took place after the Second World War, but its real return did not come until the end of the last century.
