Description The first Czechoslovaks to visit Tibet and stay in Lhasa were army filmmakers: director Vladimír Sís (1925-2001) and cameraman Josef Vaniš (1927-2009). During their stay in China and Tibet from 1953 to 1955, they kept detailed diaries and sent home reports, private and business letters. Upon their return, they wrote several books, published other articles, and most importantly, completed the film The Road Leads to Tibet. This lecture, accompanied by film clips and photographs, will present previously unpublished diaries and other accounts of the actors in this remarkable event. Luboš Bělka from the Institute of Religious Studies of the Faculty of Arts of MU introduced the topic to the audience.
