Description | The text is an extended version of a paper presented at the ETPP conference in Prešov in 2023. The paper was presented in the section "Teaching ethics at universities past and present". It focuses on one of the practical forms of didactics of ethics and does so in three steps. 1) First, he mentions Josef Tvrdý's pedagogical work in Slovakia. Tvrdý considered the education of future secondary school and grammar schoolteachers in the field of philosophy as a necessary part of the subsequent rise in the level of philosophy studies at universities. 2) He introduces the concept of the didactic workshop of the study programme Teaching Foundations of Social Sciences (UZSV), which is accredited at the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University. 3) It presents a practical example of conveying the sub-topic of virtue ethics using a comparison of a traditional work of art (a set of sculptures of virtues by Matthias Braun) and a contemporary work (The Apothecary of Virtues and Vices by Krištof Kintera). |
