| Description | In relation to the state of research, the study asks whether, in what ways and to what extent the case of the Besední and German House in Brno was typical or specific in comparison with other club houses in Moravia in the period until 1914. It concludes that although the circumstances of the operation of the club houses in the individual Moravian towns differed considerably, their basic characteristics and functions were similar. A certain specificity of the Besední House and the German House in Brno lay primarily in the symbolic value and national integration function that both houses represented for their own national society both in Brno and throughout Moravia. |
