Description | By focusing on the characters of Europa and Helen, this article examines the medieval reception and interpretation of the narrative theme of the abduction. In manuscripts, literary works, and precious objects the episodes of the abduction are staged in multiple ways. Thus, it is possible to describe the development of diversified interpretations and new iconicities linked to these two figures, paving the way to the Renaissance canons. |
