Description | The paper presents the experience of EFL secondary school teachers in the Czech Republic regarding deaf and hard of hearing learners in inclusive setting. First, legislation, teacher education and support services related to students with disabilities and inclusion are introduced. Then findings of a research based on extensive in-depth interviews with four EFL teachers from mainstream secondary schools are presented. The results show that teachers have little previous training and miss clear guidelines as to where to look for information and what adjustments are available. The main source of information are usually learners' parents. Teachers tend not to question the information they receive and adopt a relatively passive approach as long as the learnes seem to be coping. |
