Description The Mythology of the Kepka Family exhibition emphasizes intergenerational connections, diverse perspectives, and artistic expressions, presenting both individual and collective contributions of this family to the world of art. The Kepka Family Myths also present research of mythologies contained in the artistic work, which spans three generations and three different art worlds in which Ladislav Kepka (1931-1996), Juraj Kepka (1960), and Ingrid Kepková (1993) have worked or are working. The exhibition presents six artistic positions that are characteristic of each family member, revealing their unique perspectives and artistic approaches. It is necessary to understand artistic position much more loosely than just as personal philosophy or approaches of the artist to their art or attitude from which themes are explored. These positions carry as a formative tool a kind of hereditary algorithm of family mythology as part of something bigger than a chain of life that stretches through time. Family mythologies provide context of existence that is significant for this exhibition and are as a phenomenon, a testimony to our inherent need for stories and speculation about how they could or could not have happened.
