| Description | The contribution at the conference focused on the comparison of two Cistercian nuns monasteries Porta Coeli in Předklášteří and Aula Sanctae Mariae in Staré Brno as prominent royal foundations. More precisely, the queens' foundations, where the initial donation and continuous support allowed to create representative campuses that can be considered rather unusual for a new order branch. The similarities between the above monasteries do not end there. Yet we also find a number of differences. The examined categories include, for example, the selection of the site for the foundation, the building material used, the floor plan, the spatial arangement and decoration of both the church and the convent, the function of individual spaces and the entire complex, the communication scheme inside the monastery and towards the space for public, the place of residence of the female donors, funeral and memorial ties between the monastery and the queen etc. |
