| Description | The catalogue volume of the publication Raně středověké pohřebiště v Dolních Věstonicích – Na pískách contains detailed descriptions of the graves and found items of grave equipment, as well as extensive visual material – photographs of selected graves and drawings of objects existing today. The introduction presents the established structure of the records, i.e. how the different types of data follow one another. The descriptions of the graves include data from the extant documentation on the shape and dimensions of the grave pit, the preservation and position of the skeleton and finds, etc., and these data have been critically assessed and contrasted with the drawing and photographic documentation. Detailed descriptions of the objects, including their dimensions, have been made from autopsies; in the case of artefacts that are now missing, their description in the documentation is quoted, possibly enriched by data ascertainable from drawings or photographs. |
