Description The article deals with translation activities to and from Modern Greek which were carried out on the territory of Bohemia and Greece at the beginning of the 20th century. It focuses on the activities of Charikleia Šťastná (born Karmitsi, 1869–1921), a Greek settled in Prague, who was one of the initiators of Czech-Greek cultural contacts and the teaching of Modern Greek in Bohemia’s (Austro-Hungarian) secondary schools. Second, the translation efforts from Modern Greek of Czech journalist and writer Vladimír Sís (1889–1958) are discussed.
