Description | In my paper, I present a PhD research that focuses on the concept of socially unrecognized/disenfranchised grief. First, I will briefly describe the Czech context in relation to death and bereavement, and then I will present my research areas including suicide, LGBTQ+ loss, and pregnancy/perinatal loss. At the same time, I will summarize the findings from my research so far, including the point of view of institutional actors (counselor for survivors, police officer, lawyer) and the survivors themselves. In conclusion, I will explain why it is crucial to examine this issue through the lens of sociology, and not only through the lens of medicine, psychology and psychiatry, and I will further indicate the next steps of my research. |
