Description Hydride atomizers play an important role in analytical chemistry - atomic absorption or fluorescence spectrometry to detect trace amounts of elements in solutions. The contribution focuses on the diagnostics of atomizers, we employed various laser techniques to understand the processes leading to improved efficiency of the decomposition of tin hydride in certain atomizer types. These include 1) laser-induced fluorescence to determine the spatial profile of tin atom concentrations inside atomizers under different conditions, 2) two-photon absorption LIF to measure the concentration of atomic hydrogen, which is supposed to be responsible for the analyte decomposition, 3) electric field-induced second harmonic generation (EFISH) in DBD atomizers to assess the evolution of the electric field during one period of applied voltage in two different power supply regimes.
