Description This chapter, inspired by a challenge introduced by the subtitle «falso conto gótico» in the short story «Negra sombra que me assombras» (Gente Melancolicamente Louca, 2015), analyses the fiction by Teresa Veiga aiming to detect the Gothic strand as well as the subversion of some Gothic formulas and their consequent semantic extension. To achieve this goal, the analysis is based on the conception of the Gothic as a category opened to transfer and transnational circulation. There are some Gothic tropes and topics in the stories by Teresa Veiga which can be conceived in this way, for example the mansion, the feminine figure in some queer situation (persecuted, seduced, dead) and the villain hero.
