| Description | This paper presents results of an etymological analysis of Yiddish phytonyms. The results are shown in terms of general comprehensive overview, subcategories taken from the fields of biology, ethnography, and history, and other religioculturally relevant contexts. A special focus is placed on the presence of synonyms and derivational processes as well as specific features in the adaptation and incorporation of loanwords into the Yiddish linguistic system. |
