| Description | Although Cosmas of Prague and his work, the Chronicle of the Czechs, have enjoyed the consistent attention of historians for more than two centuries, it has not yet been possible to satisfactorily name the motives that prompted Cosmas to tell the story of the Czechs from its mythical beginnings to its present day, 1125. The present work attempts to explain why Cosmas decided to write the Chronicle and whom he was trying to reach. |
