Description | The fantastic element in the postmodern conception of urban space is often a means to deconstruction of the natural city along with other narrative constructions. In the texts of fantasy genre, we encounter, alongside fantastic cities constructed in the supernatural fictional world, we also encounter cities constructed in alethically ambiguous fictional worlds. Although may have similar features, in one set of texts the fantastic element is the starting point, while in the other, it is a platform. This paper presents a dissertation project that sets out to the question of how to incorporate the concept of the function of the fantastic element into the analysis of literary urban space, with an emphasis on the nature of the boundary between the alethically dichotomous fictional worlds. The aim of of the project is also to reflect on fantasy tendencies in Czech prose published after 2000. |
