Description In this talk, I discussed the data concerning the semantics of Slavic and especially Ukrainian collectives and singulatives (e.g., Kagan et al. 2023, Wągiel & Shlikhutka 2023, Kagan 2024) from the perspective of the semantics of classifier constructions in classifier languages (e.g., Krifka 1995, Chierchia 1998, 2010, Rothstein 2010, Sudo 2016). I examined similarities and differences between the two sets of phenomena and suggested an approach that captures collectivization and singulativization in terms of different individuation schemas similar to those employed in classifier constructions.
