Citation
Description The book is devoted to the work of the Prague-born Baroque architect of Italian descent, Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel. Santini now enjoys an extraordinary reputation primarily because of his association with „Baroque Gothic“ and buidings with symbolic ground-plans. Present book offers a dialogue with interpretations of Santini´s work hithero, and tries to identify the real meaning of Santini´s work in the European context and in its time, as distinct from the alleged meanings with which it has become encrusted because of the later „legend of Santini“. The author contributes one quarter of the pages (three chapters) to the book.
