Description The paper is devoted to Belarusian prison prose—works written by prisonersdescribing their life in captivity. They describe the violation of human rights, lawlessness and absurdity of the judicial and penitentiary system of Belarus. The prose of modern Belarusian authors (Belarusian-speaking and Russian--speaking) is considered in the contexts of Belarusian and Russian literarytradition. The article contains the reasons for the actuality of contemporaryBelarusian prison prose and a review of notable works on this topic. The booksOn the Way to Magadanby Ihar Alinevich,The Colours of the Parallel Worldby Mikola Dziadok andThe Zekameronby Maxim Znak are briefly analysed. The conclusion is that the number of works of Belarusian prison literature will grow in the coming years, so this topic is very productive for future research.
