| Description | Defiance social and individual norms and their transgression belong to the paradigmatic techniques of self-development and individual liberation from external restrictions in the esoteric current of the Left-Hand Tath. Defiance and transgression for the development of individuality (so-called antinomianism) takes manifold forms in the Left-Hand Path, from mental exercises and symbolic transgressions in ritual, to animal sacrifices or interpersonal violence. A particularly aggressive conception of antinomianism is promoted in the current Left-Hand Path by the so-called sinister milieu, a transnational network of esotericists originating from the satanic Order of the Nine Angles, which was created in the second half of the 1970s. In antinomianism, the sinister milieu uses religious and political extremism, especially the extreme right. The presentation will focus on his discursive strategies of legitimization of right-wing extremism as an antinomian self-development tool. Via a qualitative analysis of a representative sample of 83 texts circulating across sinister milieu (in the terminology of the milieu, so-called "manuscripts"), the presentation will first introduce how the milieu discursively constructs extreme-right narratives and movements as taboo and criminalized by the repressive Judeo-Christian establishment. The presentation then shows how the milieu uses this "heresy" of the extreme right to legitimize right-wing extremism as an external form with which the initiate can be freed from mainstream dogmas and gain practical experience from dangerous and borderline situations in their path of self-development. In conclusion, the presentation will demonstrate how this notion of manipulation with extreme right-wing ideologies and groups serve the sinister milieu to build their own transgressive subcultural capital in polemics with other traditions of the Left-Hand path - by pointing out their use of taboo politics, the milieu presents itself as authentically amoral, satanic and antinomian. |
