Description The present paper focuses on the issue of classification of video game localization as one of the forms of audiovisual translation. The content is mainly based on private interviews with Czech localizers and audiovisual translators. In the first part, the resulting products of both fields - films, TV series and video games - are characterised in detail. Then the focus is on the significant and distinct differences between audiovisual translation and video game localisation. Subsequently, the practical and technical aspects of subtitling and dubbing are compared. The author is of the opinion that, given the clear specificities of each field, it is not appropriate to classify video game localisation under audiovisual translation.
