Description The intervention was focused on my PhD research to share partial results and methodology. As a complex reality, the sacred space was shaped by material and non-material elements, intertwined. The thesis focuses on the Christian context of 4th-6th centuries, a pivotal moment of change in the wealth and width of the Church. Monumental case studies from Rome are combined with written and iconographic evidence from the Roman area, whereas movable objects (mostly liturgical treasures) are chosen among the rare surviving treasures from a wider area (from the British Isles to the Eastern Mediterranean). The presentation followed with the investigation of the first case study combining the early-5th-century phase of the funerary shrine of S. Alessandro sulla Via Nomentana and the Water Newton Treasure (second half of the 4th-early 5th century).
