Description Lyudmila Ivanovna Shestakova (1816–1906) was the sister of the Russian composer Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka, and after his death she took care of his legacy. The first place outside Russia where Glinka’s operas were performed was Prague, which Shestakova herself visited. In Prague she made several friends, including Josef Kolář, with whom she later corresponded. Her letters to Kolář are valuable witness of the background of events.
