Description | The paper deals with the issue of communication between the free royal city of Prešov and the monarchs and other authorized authorities during the 18th century. The subjects of the examined letters and regulations are the annual royal attributions that were addressed to the city before the elections of new city bodies. These attributions were part of a wider communication network between the monarch and the city, on the basis of which one can see the growing and developing influence of the monarchs and the authorities to control the course of free elections directed by the city. The contribution will thus contribute to a better understanding of communication mechanisms and relations between the monarch and the city in the early modern period, specifically in the 18th century. |
