Description The aim of the study presented here is to place the legal opinions that came into play after 1918 in the application of the norms of land reform in the young Czechoslovak Republic with regard to the property of the Princely House of Liechtenstein in a broader political and social context. At the time when Czechoslovakia came into being, the debate about the meaning of Czech history, the character of the modern Czech nation and the future form of a Czech (or Czechoslovak) state had been raging for several decades. This debate was not limited to the pages of historical journals and publications. On the contrary, it often found expression in the form of political journalism and programmatic articles by political leaders, so that it can be traced in the newspapers of the time as well as in various party and educational handbooks. A typical feature is the intellectual historicism - formulating ideological postulates based on the historical fate of the Czech people and state - which often originated in the period after the Battle of White Mountain.
