Description In contemporary Czech theatre there are not many directors who work in Czech and foreign language theatre scene at the same time. One of the exceptions is the work of the award-winning director and set designer Dušan David Pařízek (*1971), who works in both the Czech Republic and German-speaking countries. Given this overlap of several cultures, it can be viewed as a carrier of cultural transfer between the language areas mentioned. Since the concepts of cultural transfers are little researched in contemporary Czech theatre studies, this study represents one of the first attempts to apply the theory of cultural transfers to the theatre field. I show the variants of cultural transfer using the example of Pařízek’s production of König Ottokars Glück und Ende (premiere January 8, 2019) at the Vienna Volkstheater.
