Description The present study investigated the influence of the selective CB2 receptor agonist palmitoylethanolamide (3 or 15 mg/kg, intraperitoneally)on immune function of leukocyte. Phagocytic activity of mouse leukocytes was measured in chemiluminescence (CL) assay using zymosan induction of phagocytosis and luminol potentiation of CL in vitro. Palmitoylethanolamide produced the increase of leukocyte phagocytic activity at the lower dose and significant decrease at the higher dose. These results confirm that CB2 receptor which has been identified in a high density on leukocytes are involved in regulation of their phagocytic activity and might be important for immune changes in cannabinoid users.
