Description | 4-Nitroguaiacol was identified as a stable product of transformation of 4-nitrophenol by the strain Arthrobacter sp. 8/3, isolated in our department. We tested the degradation activity of soil bacteria towards this compound. Bacteria originated from collection, isolated a few years ago from polluted soil, were found to be inactive. Therefore experiments were aimed on isolation from soil. A number of strains growing on 4-nitroguaiacol were isolated by the method of selectively enrichment. The most active and stable strains were further characterised. |
